New system uses Sun to make sea water potable-Made In India

London: a brand new "ground-breaking" prototype system that turns ocean water into potable using simply the power of the Sun has been successfully tested in India, its makers claim.

The UK-based firm Desolenator uses a patented technology to transform salt water and different dirty waters, from upcountry sources, into pure water.

Capable of manufacturing up to fifteen litres daily, the system needs no power supply, apart from the Sun, and has no moving components or filters, creating it unbelievably easy to maintain.

"The unit uses no consumables and a one-off payment can give water for households for up to twenty years, providing a significant supply of water independence to people who want it most,"the company said in a statement.

While the team have assembled a totally operating image, the company has launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to take it from prototype to production.

"We have already developed the Desolenator in the UK and tested it in India through five prototype iterations. It works! And our water tastes great! according to the company's Indiegogo page.

"We wish to start out user testing in South India, then production of the Desolenator. we would like to possess a final product able to ship by october 2015!" the company wrote on the page.

"Climate modification and increase are setting the stage for a world water crisis. a massive ninety seven per cent of the world's water is salt water and our conceive to faucet into this valuable and obtainable resource to disrupt the world water crisis in an unprecedented  manner," William Janssen, CEO, said.

The process is named desalination and nowadays whereas 0.7 per cent of the world's water comes from desalination, existing technology is expensive, inefficient and disproportionally drains 0.5 per cent of the world's international energy offer, in step with the corporate.

"Desolenator is totally different from existing desalination and residential water technologies – it harnesses solar power in an elegant new manner, maximizing the quantity of radiation that hits the technologies surface area through a mixture of thermal, electrical and heat exchange, making pure clean drinking water through the ability of the sun," said Janssen.
